Preseason: Osimhen missing as Conte takes charge of first Napoli game

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen missed Napoli’s first pre-season game on Tuesday.

Osimhen was unavailable due to fitness issues, according to Soccernet.

Napoli played local Italian side, Anaune Val Di Non, with Antonio Conte taking charge of his first game.

Osimhen was initially named on the bench when the team lists were announced, but it turned out he was in the stands.

The Nigerian has been working separately from the squad in training over the last few days due to fitness issues.

He left training early a few days ago with an ice pack strapped around his ankle.

In his absence, Conte’s men cruised to a 4-nil victory, with Leonardo Spinazzola, Walid Cheddira, Gianluca Gaetano and Cyril Ngonge getting on the scoresheet.
