Zamfara Police confirm killing of bandits, rescue of 7 kidnapped victims

The Zamfara State Police command has confirmed the killing of scores of bandits and repelled attacks on two villages in Gusau, the state capital.

The command further confirmed that it rescued seven kidnapped victims over the weekend in Damba and a new settlement behind Karma Hotel along Gusau.

It said that the kidnapped victims include Pastor Isa Andrew, the Chaplain of All Saints Police Protestant Church, Mopol 42 Mobile Base, Gusau and his Daughter.

According to the police, the pastor and his daughter were kidnapped by a group of armed bandits at their residence behind Karma Hotel in the wee hours of Monday.

The State Police Commissioner, Mohammed Dalijan who spoke in Hausa confirmed the incident, while speaking at a stakeholders meeting at the Police Command Headquarters, in Gusau, the State capital.

He said, “Fifty-three patrol vehicles have been deployed to various streets in Gusau. The police are committed to solving the persistent insecurity situation in the state.

The State police boss also confirmed that security operatives were working round the clock to capture the kidnappers and secure the freedom of the kidnapped victims unhurt.

DAILY POST recalls that two pastors have been abducted in less than a month in Gusau, by gunmen.

Pastor Andrew was abducted eight days after the parish priest of St Raymond Catholic Church Damba, Reverend Father Mikah Suleiman was released by the gunmen who kidnapped and held him for sixteen days.

The State Police Commissioner also appealed to the public to always support the security agencies with vital and timely information.
