All set for Jigawa local government elections — JISIEC

The Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, JISIEC, said it has concluded all the necessary precautions for the conduct of the upcoming local government election.

The chairman of the commission, Auwal Harbo, said this while briefing newsmen at the commission’s headquarters in Dutse.

DAILY POST reported that the JISIEC has fixed October 5, 2024, for the conduct of the election.

According to him: “We have concluded all the necessary preparations for a free and credible electoral process.”

Harbo explained that 11 political parties will participate in the election, including the major opposition parties, NNPP and PDP.

“Also, 95 per cent of election material, including sensitive and non-sensitive materials, is ready for distribution.

“We will also recruit 14,794 ad hoc staff across the 287 political wards of the 27 local government areas,” he said.

The chairman noted that all measures have been taken to guarantee the security and peaceful conduct of the election.
