Former England internationals, Alan Shearer and Gary Lineker, have picked the player that deserves to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or will be announced in October.
Manchester City duo, Rodri and Erling Haaland, are expected to be among the contenders.
Also, Real Madrid trio, Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham and Dani Cavajal are expected to be in the list of contenders for the prize.
However, both Shearer and Lineker feel Rodri deserves to win the award for his outstanding season for both club and country.
Speaking with former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on the Rest is Football Podcast, Shearer had no doubt in selecting Rodri to win the Ballon d’Or, saying: “It can only be him.”
On his part, Lineker added, “I think Rodri deserves it [Ballon d’Or]. They did not win the Champions League at City, but they did win the league and then the Euros with Spain when he was very much their leader.”
