Northern Governors condemn Yobe killings, demand swift justice

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, NSGF and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Yahaya, has strongly condemned the recent deadly attack in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The attack, suspected to be carried out by Boko Haram insurgents, resulted in the looting and burning of shops and houses in the area.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday by Ismaila Misilli, the Director-General of Press Affairs at the Gombe Government House, Yahaya described the assault as a “senseless act of violence” that has inflicted immense grief on the affected families and communities.

Yahaya commended the efforts of security forces in combating remnants of criminal groups but stated the urgent need for intensified operations to capture and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“This brutal act must not go unpunished. I call on security agencies to double their efforts and ensure that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice,” he stated.

The NSGF Chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the northern governors to supporting efforts aimed at restoring peace and security in the region. He stressed the importance of collective action to prevent such tragedies from recurring.

Yahaya extended the forum’s condolences to the bereaved families and the government of Yobe State, offering prayers for the repose of the souls of the deceased and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
