Osun Amotekun arrest 50-year-old man for attempted kidnap, other suspected criminals

Osun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps has arrested 50-year-old Najeemdeen Shola Bankole Adeyemi for the attempted kidnapping of one Rodiat Adenike AbdulRazak whom he met on Facebook.

Briefing journalists on his arrest and that of other suspected criminals at the headquarters of the security outfit on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Isaac Omoyele revealed that the suspect who operated from Lagos had lured the unsuspecting Rodiat to a restaurant where he collected her phone and escaped.

Omoyele said, “On 15/9/2024 at about 1445hrs, One Rodiat Adenike Abdul Razak “F” a native of Osogbo reported that she met a man on facebook who promised to visit her from Lagos.

“The suspect, one Najeemdeen Shola Bankole Adeyemi aged 50 yrs came to Osogbo and lured the complainant to a nearby restaurant where he stylishly collected her Android phone and escaped.

“Upon the receipt of the complaints, Amotekun operatives tracked the suspect down from Lagos to Osogbo where he was arrested while trying to steal another phone from a victim.

“He confessed to having been using tricks on his victims by fraudulently lying to them with a fake Facebook account.”

While warning young ladies to be cautious of friends on Facebook, Omoyele said Adeyemi would be transferred to the Nigeria Police for prosecution.

The Osun Amotekun boss also paraded 30-year-old Elizabeth Ako for currency counterfeiting.

Elizabeth was arrested at Sabo area of Ilesa while transacting business with the fake currency.

He said, “On 16/9/2024, at about 0945hrs a suspect, one Rebecca Ako aged 30yrs ‘F’ was arrested at Sabo Market, llesa while using fake N1,000 denomination to buy goods from unsuspecting individuals.

“The suspect during interrogation confessed to having been indulging in the business for a long time. She confessed to be buying the fake currency from one Mrs Elizabeth who used to send it through despatch from Abuja.

“She said she used to pay Fifty Thousand Naira which is original to collect Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) of the fake money. She has used fake currency to enrich herself.”

Paraded alongside the currency counterfeiter were other suspects who were arrested for various crimes.

DAILY POST gathered that 37-year-old Olaniyan Afeez, who specialises in motorcycle snatching and killing of his victims, was arrested for theft, conspiracy, murder and trading in human parts.

Omoyele also revealed that 19-year-old Olatinwo Quy was arrested for theft of motorcycle in Apomu, Isokan local government area, 29-year-old Tajudeen Riliwan, an ex-convict was arrested for stealing ceiling fan from mosque in Osogbo and 20-year-old Laisi Kazeem who repeatedly stole transformer cables supplying electricity to some part of Ila-Odo town.

Two ex-convicts, 45-year-old Babatunde Aderemi and Olaniyan Afeez were arrested for stealing in Ikirun and Adegboye Glory, aged 19 and Bidemi Adebayo, aged 30 years were apprehended for burglary and theft in Iwo local government.
