AFCON 2025 qualifier: Galatasaray provide negative injury update on Osimhen ahead Libya games

Victor Osimhen is now facing a race to be fit for Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.

Osimhen was substituted after the break during Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw against Kasimpasa last Saturday.

The 25-year-old scored twice in the encounter.

The striker disclosed after the game that his substitution was a precautionary measure.

Galatasaray has however released an update on the injury.

“The treatment of our football player Victor Osimhen, who felt pain in his upper left posterior muscle during the Kasımpaşa match in the seventh week of the Trendyol Super League and who was diagnosed with strain (strain and bleeding) in his upper left posterior muscle group during his check-ups at our sponsor hospital Medicana today, has been started,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.

Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen is expected to release his list for the clash with Libya this week.
