The Ondo State Security Network Agency, otherwise known as the Amotekun Corps, on Tuesday, revealed that no fewer than 1,200 of its operatives would be deployed for the yuletide across the 18 local government areas of the state.
According to the commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the deployment of the operatives became imperative to sustain the existing peace in the state, particularly since activities for the Christmas and New Year period will be high.
Adeleye stated this while parading some suspects at the corps headquarters in Akure, the state capital.
The Amotekun Commander emphasised that black spots in the three senatorial districts of the state have been identified with strategies put in place to forestall any form of criminal activities.
He also said that the corps will collaborate with the Osun State Amotekun towards preventing crime along the Ilesa-Akure corridor ahead of the yuletide.
“In collaboration with other security agencies, Amotekun has developed strategies to ensure that the influx of visitors during the Yuletide period does not increase crime rates in Ondo State.
“In the coming days, you will notice Amotekun personnel stationed at strategic locations and black spots across the 18 local government areas.”
