The Nigerian and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has deployed 1,800 for the Yuletide celebration in Ondo State.
While disclosing that the move will safeguard the lives and property of the residents during the festivities, the State Command of the NSCDC assured of comprehensive security during the Yuletide.
The State Commandant, Oluyemi Ibiloye, who outlined the operational order of the command, disclosed that operatives have been strategically stationed at high-risk areas, flashpoints and other critical locations.
According to Ibiloye, key focus areas include religious centres, recreational venues, shopping malls, motor parks, and government facilities to forestall any potential breaches of peace.
Ibiloye added that the personnel were drawn from specialised units such as the Counter-Terrorism Unit, CTU, Anti-Vandal Squad, Special Female Squad, SFS, Mining, and Agro Rangers.
Others are the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives, CBRNE, Unit, which will work alongside the Intelligence and Investigation Department and Quick Response Squad.
The commander, who urged officers to maintain professionalism while fostering cooperation with sister agencies appealed to the public to celebrate responsibly.
“Let us all embrace peace and make this yuletide a joyous one for everyone. Any criminal caught disrupting the peace will face the full wrath of the law.”
He also encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies for swift intervention.
