NSCDC to deploy 1600 personnel for Christmas celebration in Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, said no fewer than 1600 personnel will be deployed for special operations during the Christmas celebration in Edo state.

The Edo State Commandant, Gbenga Agun disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Efosa Egbebor.

Agun noted that the operatives were drawn from the various tactical teams of the command.

According to him, these teams include the Operations Department, Anti-Vandal, Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, CNAI, Counter Terrorism Unit and Special Female Squad, SFS, amongst others.

Agun explained that the operatives would provide security in
public places such as markets, recreational centres, places of worship and all critical national assets and infrastructures in the state.

He opined that the deployment was to prevent crime and ensure hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations in the state.

He added that the agency would be collaborating with other sister agencies to ensure optimal operational success during the yuletide season.

While felicitating with Christians as they celebrate Christmas, he advised the youths in the state to eschew all forms of violence and unwholesome acts that could jeopardize a peaceful celebration.
