The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Agya, has announced the commencement of the 2024 Christmas vacation for High Courts across the state.
The holiday, according to a statement made available to journalists in Jalingo, on Thursday, will run from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, to Thursday, January 2, 2025.
Justice Agya explained that the vacation is in accordance with the Taraba State High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2011.
He cited Order 8, Rule 4(C) of the rules, which provides that civil court proceedings shall not be held on workdays during the period starting from Christmas Eve through January 2 of the following year.
He also emphasized that the notice is to inform the general public and legal practitioners about the break in court activities during the festive season.
“The High Courts throughout Taraba State will observe the Christmas vacation beginning on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, and ending on Thursday, January 2, 2025,” the statement read.
This annual tradition, he said, allows court officials and staff to celebrate the holidays while ensuring compliance with procedural rules governing court operations.
