CHAN2024 qualifier: Awako warns Black Galaxies ahead of Nigeria clash

Former Black Galaxies captain Gladson Awako has warned the team to brace up for a tough challenge against the Super Eagles B team in the 2025 African Nations Championship qualifying game.

DAILY POST recalls that Ghana eliminated Nigeria in the 2022 playoff to secure a spot in the tournament.

The Black Galaxies will host Nigeria in the first leg of the qualifying match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Awako believed that repeating the same feat won’t be easy.

“They will not find it easy like before because, the last time, we managed to eliminate them in the same tournament, and this is Ghana versus Nigeria,” Awako told Asempa Radio.

“Nigerians always feel superior—they think they are ahead of us because of their size and where they are coming from. But we always surprise them.

“I believe this group of players can achieve the same if they stay humble and listen to their coaching staff.”

The overall winner will qualify for CHAN 2024 which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The CHAN tournament is for players featuring in their countries’ domestic leagues.
