Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca, has said Romeo Lavia will “struggle to play on Sunday”, but confirmed Reece James took part in Friday’s training session.
Lavia has missed the team’s last three matches due to a knock, while James’ hamstring injury has kept him out since early November.
But Maresca warned that James’ return to match action won’t be so soon.
“That doesn’t mean that he’s going to be with us on Sunday or next Sunday,” he said.
“The plan is part of the session to be with him and from there to try to build the right condition for him and finally he can be back with us.”
Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile are both out with long-term injuries.
Joao Felix is fit after coming on as a second-half substitute against Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night.
Noni Madueke came off at half time during that game but it was planned.
