Obaze, a strong ally of the former governor of Anambra State made this disclosure during an interview with Arise Television on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.According to him, the Nigerian political space is in dire need of a strong coalition that would transcend beyond every party affiliations, personal interests and the likes.He said, “Any coalition going into 2027 that excludes Peter Obi will almost certainly fail,” he said, underscoring Obi’s strategic importance to opposition unity.The former United Nations diplomat also described the Labour Party as one lacking the necessary leadership structure and will to move the ideals of a new Nigeria.He further called on political actors across the nation to ensure that they put in their best foot forward to champion the interest of the people and the country as a whole.Also, highlighting the complications and challenges associated with building consensus within the political ecosystem, Obaze said it is unfortunate that Nigerian politics have become too transactional.He stated that the nation is in need of long-lost purpose-driven leadership that is people-oriented and can foster turnaround and ultimate growth in Nigeria.He added, “Politics in Nigeria has become too transactional. We need purpose-driven leadership. We need to ask: what legacy are we leaving for the next generation?”

He also said that the Labour Party, which he recently resigned from, was riddled with loads of irregularities, corruption and disregard for rule of law.According to Obaze, the party lacked the required leadership and willingness to learn from its past.The former Secretary to the State Government of Anambra also said that his leaving Labour Party was personal and has nothing to do with being loyal to anyone in particular.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
