BREAKING: North Will Decide Nigeria’s President in 6 Months -Tinubu’s Ex-Adviser Sends Message to 2027 Hopeful

According to a report from Vanguard Newspaper on Monday, April 21, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Bola Tinubu, has declared that the northern region will play a pivotal role in determining Nigeria’s next president within the next six months. In a recent interview in Kaduna, Baba-Ahmed emphasized the significance of northern support for any presidential aspirant in the upcoming 2027 elections.

“In the coming months, the north will clarify its political direction,” Baba-Ahmed stated. “If other regions wish to partner with us, that is welcome. However, if they choose not to, we are prepared to forge our own path. It is clear that no candidate can ascend to the presidency without the backing of the north.”

He expressed concern over the political landscape, urging northern voters to remain vigilant against divisive rhetoric and opportunistic politicians as the elections draw near. “We need a government that genuinely understands and addresses our challenges,” he said. “After eight years under Buhari, we have gained wisdom. We cannot afford to be misled again.”

Reflecting on past adversities, particularly the Boko Haram insurgency, Baba-Ahmed highlighted the necessity for unity among northern communities. “The north has endured significant suffering, affecting all groups—Muslims, Christians, and ethnic minorities alike. This shared experience should unite us in our political choices,” he remarked.

Baba-Ahmed also cautioned against the marginalization of the north, warning that neglect could lead to serious consequences. “If there are plans to manipulate the electoral process, those responsible should proceed with caution. The northern populace is observant and will not tolerate injustice,” he warned.

He concluded by urging voters to prioritize competence and integrity over ethnic or religious affiliations, stating, “We are tired of being deceived by identity politics. We want a leader who can truly solve our problems, regardless of where they come from.”
