A tragic domestic incident occurred in the Gbonogun area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, where a 22-year-old housewife, Iyanu Adedeji, allegedly stabbed her husband, Funsho Jimoh, to death. In a report by The Punch, the disagreement arose after Funsho accused Iyanu of infidelity, leading to a physical altercation. During the scuffle, Iyanu allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest with a domestic knife. Realizing the severity of the injury, she rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, but doctors on duty declared him dead.

According to police source, “In the process of the fight, Mrs Iyanu, inflicted a wound on her husband’s chest with a domestic knife. She rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, where the doctor on duty confirmed him dead

Following the incident, Iyanu voluntarily reported herself to the police at the Divisional Police Station in the area. She provided an account of the altercation and explained her efforts to save her husband’s life by taking him to the hospital after noticing he was bleeding. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Omolola Odutola, confirmed the suspect’s arrest and the recovery of the weapon used.

Police officers visited the crime scene as part of their preliminary investigation, while the case is being prepared for transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry.
