The ongoing attempt to remove Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office has been described by political pundit Mayor Akinpelu as a pointless endeavor. Akinpelu attacked the Rivers State House of Assembly in an interview with TVC News, claiming that the legal disputes surrounding the issue had already been resolved.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
“They have been to court and the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, has made pronouncements. That should have been the end of the nonsense that is going on in Rivers State,” Akinpelu said.
He pointed out that the court had directed Governor Fubara to re-present the state budget to the House and ruled that the local government elections conducted under his administration were null and void.
According to Akinpelu, these rulings had already addressed the major issues fueling the political conflict.
“The governor has agreed to present the budget to the House. So why do you now want to start this nonsense gross misconduct something?” he questioned.
The Rivers State Assembly, dominated by lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike has been pushing for Fubara’s impeachment over allegations of gross misconduct.
However, Akinpelu dismissed their efforts, insisting they would not succeed.
“Let me tell you something, they are wasting their time, they won’t succeed. Even their godfather that is making them do this nonsense is just on a long thing,” he said.
The political crisis in Rivers State has intensified in recent months with tensions between Governor Fubara and lawmakers sparking debates about governance and loyalty.
