Oshiomhole, in a pointed address, stated that no country, including global powers such as the United States, China, or nations in Europe, would allow such an influx of foreign nationals into sectors where locals could fill the roles.
He emphasized the issue of visas and work permits being granted to individuals from abroad, questioning the rationale behind such decisions.
He said, “When you go to commercial centers in Abuja, you will observe expatriates selling chairs, tables, and even bread at local bakeries. I don’t want to name their nationality, but it is clear that there are jobs Nigerians can do, which are now being filled by foreign nationals.”
Highlighting Nigeria’s historical commitment to indigenization, Oshiomhole underscored that Nigerian workers had long fought for employment opportunities, especially in industries where foreigners were previously imported to take over roles that locals could have easily performed.
