Lamine Yamal delivered a mesmerizing performance as Barcelona thrashed Real Betis 5-1, propelling Hansi Flick’s side into the Copa del Rey quarter-finals.
Fresh from their dominant victory over Real Madrid, Barcelona started strong, with Gavi scoring in the third minute after a clever assist from Dani Olmo. Olmo, who recently resolved registration issues, was denied by Betis goalkeeper Fran Vieites and the post, as the visitors tried to stay in the game.
Marc Bartra made a crucial goal-line clearance to deny Raphinha, but Jules Kounde doubled Barca’s lead in the 27th minute with a thunderous strike, assisted by Yamal’s precise pass. Kounde thought he had another just before halftime, but it was ruled out by VAR for offside, as was a stunning volleyed goal from Yamal.
In the second half, Raphinha secured the win with his 20th goal of the season, following a brilliant run by Yamal. Substitute Ferran Torres added a fourth with a superb volley, and Yamal finally got his well-deserved goal, calmly slotting past Vieites.
