Over the weekend, the Coordinator spoke to journalists about that. The majority of Ikwere people think and agree that they are Ndigbo, according to Chief Amaechi, who also said that just a small number of people allegedly wrote, signed, and published the letter of expulsion in the media.
Due to the fact that the Ikwere people are not Igbo, and because the senator has chosen to join Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide and become its PG, he has taken the opportunity to be a member of the association, Mbata was disowned and made public by Ogbakor Ikwere.
Chief Amaechi responded by reminding them that an Ikwere man was just elected president of the Igbo sociocultural organization in Rivers State, as is customary in other Igbo states in Nigeria and in accordance with the constitution of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The legal expert, who continued to treat everything with a wave of his hand, advised some Ikwere residents who had been lying to themselves and the younger generations to stop denying themselves their rights, identity, and place of origin. He did this by reminding them that they had disclaimed Igbo approximately fifty years ago, during the civil war, in order to survive and save their lives. As a result, he persisted in urging them to mature and cease dehumanizing themselves by denying themselves their rights, identity, and place of birth now that the war is over.
He continued by saying that Ikwere is an Igbo language and that in addition to speaking it, Ndigbo people also respond to Igbo names and celebrate the four market days of Eke, Orie, Afor, and Nkwor. According to him, the Benin people rejected their claim that they originated in Benin. As a result, Chief Austine C. Amaechi reminded them that their claims are unfounded and that they have lost their position in Nigerian history.
Distinguished Senator John Azuta Mbata, the PG of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide, stated unequivocally that the Ikwere people are Ndigbo. He added that every ethnic group in Nigeria has a sociocultural organization that collaborates to advance peace and harmony in the country.
