A purported political plan to thwart President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign has alarmed Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Apex Igbo Sociocultural Organization.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Several powerful individuals, including two former presidents, previous military heads of state, opposition leaders, and disgruntled elements inside the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), are allegedly behind the conspiracy, according to the organization.
“These forces are using Nigeria’s economic difficulties, insecurity, and the Federal Government’s alleged insensitivity to incite unrest and destabilize the administration,” Ohanaeze cautioned in a statement signed by Deputy President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro. Ohanaeze’s accusations that Rivers State Governor Siminialayi Fubara and four Southeast Governors have joined this scheme are especially troubling. They allegedly plotted to destabilize the Igbo leadership structure and tried to discredit Barr Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, in his home state of Rivers.
As the 2025 and 2026 political build-ups leading up to the 2027 presidential election draw near, we charge that these governors have hidden agendas to enlist disenchanted Nigerians, particularly the Igbo population, in their planned political revolutionary movements. Their plans are clearly intended to spread a dissident narrative that demonizes President Tinubu while portraying themselves as change agents under the pretense of caring about the wellbeing of the country.
These governors’ desperation has two purposes: first, it forces President Tinubu to give in to their political demands, endangering his priceless connections with powerful allies in the South-South and Southeast, such as Barr Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister; Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio; Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives; and other important ministers in his administration. “Secondly, they intend to use Ohanaeze Ndigbo as a means of mobilizing the Igbo Nation in an alarming coalition with Northern political institutions in an effort to depose President Tinubu,” the statement said.
Recalling his previous activities, such as his backing of former Senate President Ahmad Lawan during the APC primaries, Ohanaeze further charged Governor Hope Uzodimma with siding with opposition elements. The coalition, which is purportedly backed by some international forces, aims to develop a strong alliance with Northern political establishments and significant ethnic groups in order to overthrow President Tinubu, the group warned.
Ohanaeze called on President Tinubu to act swiftly to resolve the security and economic issues that the organizations plan to take advantage of. Ohanaeze Ndigbo concludes by restating that the main targets of this heinous conspiracy are President Tinubu and FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike, with the intention of stealing the Ohanaeze Ndigbo platform for the next 2027 presidential election.
“All members of our respected Igbo community and all patriotic Nigerians are urged to stand together against these polarizing political maneuvers that jeopardize our democratic values and shared destiny. The statement said, “Together, we must protect our heritage, our rights, and our position in the country. The time to act is now.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
