There is no reason for fear among those who are worried about the family’s media outbursts. Such a vile incident necessitates ongoing media indignation. Such focus guarantees the prompt pursuit of justice. It would be unjust to prescribe how the family expresses their grief over the horrific and inhumane murder of their daughter, as they are obviously distressed.
So what to those promoting the ludicrous theory that Salome cheated on Timileyin? Is death the penalty for adultery? And the terrible mutilation of a human being into incomprehensible fragments, in addition to death? Whether it is natural vengeance or human justice, Timileyin cannot evade the law. His encounter with death is unavoidable. Later, for sure, if not now.
It should be mentioned that Salome Adaidu’s horrific murder is a national issue and that her passing should never be minimized to a political dispute. Regardless of a person’s color, religion, or tribe, their death is a loss to humanity, thus those who are ironing their attrition swords should keep quiet. The whole force of the law will be applied against Timileyin, the murderer, regardless of who offers condolences or condemnation.
Those who are attempting to use this tragic event for political purposes must to stop. It is not enough to just acknowledge sympathy in public. Please avoid the bereaved family if your purpose for visiting the Adaidus is to obtain political water rather than to soothe them.
At this point, the emphasis must continue to be on making sure that justice is served and that such horrible atrocities are universally denounced. Until a fair and definitive court decision is rendered, media attention shouldn’t diminish. This is a time for all people to unite around the values of humanity, justice, and accountability, regardless of their political or ethnic connections. Salome’s passing ought to act as a warning to the public about the negative effects of unbridled violence and the pressing need for structural changes to stop tragedies like this one.
In the end, justice is an obligation rather than only a promise. To guarantee that the system provides Salome Adaidu with the justice she is due, all eyes must be firmly on the case. The fact that the governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, and the minister of women’s affairs, Hajia Iman Suleiman, are taking a serious interest in the matter and are standing erect to see that justice is done is comforting. This is the desired level of commitment, not the political leaning colors that some jobbers are using.
A good man with a sharp conscience would have let the law do its thing, but he is heartbroken that he is losing a killer son. Until we have a people who condemn evil, we will continue to have many Timileyin around. Mr. Ajayi, Timileyin’s father, is pleading for forgiveness for his killer son, which is not only insensitive but also an insult to human meekness.
Till then, one thing is for sure: Timileyin Ajayi will be held accountable for his horrible murder, and Salome Adaidu, who was decapitated and mutilated by the murderer, will receive justice, even if it is in absentia. A sad musing!
