Bundesliga: Boniface faces ban for unsportsmanlike gesture

Victor Boniface could miss Bayer Leverkusen’s opening Bundesliga game of the season against Borussia Monchengladbach due to suspension.

Boniface is being investigated for unsportsmanlike gestures in Die Werkself’s German Super Cup win against VFB Stuttgart last weekend.

The Nigeria international would be sanctioned by the German Football Association if found guilty.

“Boniface is suspected of having shown the Stuttgart players the finger when he ran past them just after the final whistle,” a spokesman told Die Tageszeitung.

The striker opened the scoring for Xabi Alonso’s men in the game.

Bayer Leverkusen will begin their title defence against Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday.
