Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency specialist in the Lake Chad region, reported that ISWAP released pictures of the summary execution, which showed the traditional leader’s terrible death. Insurgent activity has been rampant in the Diffa region, which is close to the borders with Nigeria and Chad. Boko Haram and ISWAP regularly assault villages, security personnel, and aid workers.
“The village head of Malam Boulamari, a locality located between Mainé Soroa and Chetimari in Niger’s Diffa region, was executed by the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP),” Zagazola stated. The organization released pictures of the heinous incident, which depicted the traditional leader’s summary execution.
