While departing over Ivory Coast airspace, the aircraft, carrying 245 passengers, eight flight attendants, and three pilots, returned directly to Murtala Muhammed International Airport, or MMIA. One of the passengers, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the incident occurred after they had unbuckled their seatbelts. “We had already been served our meals when the plane lost pressure and dropped,” the traveler stated. A steep drop caught our attention.
The blow knocked my head into the ceiling. In the midst of the chaos, one member of the medical staff arrived to tend to me after I passed out. Three separate instances of the steep descent resulted in injuries to several. We were on the air for four hours. The pilot stated that we would land in Ghana during the chaos, but we ultimately touched down in Nigeria.
