Cross River Council chairman raises concern over challenges in office

One of the newly sworn-in chairmen of local government areas of Cross River State, Mr Kingsley Arikpo has said there are daunting challenges confronting him in office.

Arikpo claimed he was determined to work towards surmounting the tasks he has met in office.

He spoke at the council headquarters in Obubra LGA during the inaugural session of the 8th Legislative Council of Obubra, held at the Local Government Legislative Chamber and gave himself the first 100 days to set a positive mark for the Council.

Arikpo said he was determined to significantly impact the people whilst in office.

“Despite the daunting challenges confronting the entry point of my administration, I am determined to create a positive impact amongst the people in this local government area.

Arikpo said he will work in synergy with the legislature to facilitate policies and programmes that will add value to the people’s well-being.

The chairman released the first set of appointees for the council, including Dr Atan Egor, as Council Secretary, and Mr Ekong Okpa as Chief Press Secretary

Former member of the House of Representatives, Chief Ernest Irek encouraged Arikpo to run an inclusive and consultative administration.
