In 2023, Mr. Momika burned a copy of the Islamic holy book outside the Stockholm Central Mosque, sparking unrest.
Five persons have been detained after a guy in his 40s was sh0t de@d overnight, according to a statement from Stockholm police. In a statement, police claimed they had received information of a shooting in Momika’s hometown of Sodertalje. According to the statement, a guy had been “hit by shots and the man was taken to hospital” when police arrived at the scene of the interior shooting.
Around the time of his shooting, Mr. Momika was livestreaming on social media, according to local media. In August, Mr. Momika, an Iraqi residing in Sweden, was charged with four counts of “agitation against an ethnic group” during the summer of 2023. The verdict was scheduled to be given on Thursday, but the Stockholm District Court said it was “confirmed that one of the defendants had died” and therefore postponed.
Several Muslim-majority nations were outraged by Mr. Momika’s anti-Islamic demonstrations. In the midst of a diplomatic dispute, the Swedish ambassador was dismissed from Baghdad, and there were two instances of unrest in the Swedish embassy there. According to its free-speech regulations, the Swedish government had granted Mr. Momika permission to burn the sacred book as part of the protest.
