Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, has stepped up efforts to run for president in 2027, only twenty-four hours after former vice president Atiku Abubakar visited his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Although Atiku claimed that his visit to Obasanjo had nothing to do with the 2027 election, insiders suggested that the former vice president, who was joined by Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi, former Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal, and former Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross Rivers State, was there to solicit the former president’s approval in light of a developing political alliance.

The former vice president, who started a united opposition front after the 2023 election in preparation for the 2027 election, has formed an emerging political coalition with other opposition politicians, such as former minister Chibuike Amaechi, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, and others. In the meantime, evidence of Governor Mohammed’s 2027 presidential aspirations surfaced when he declared he would not run if former President Goodluck Jonathan, whose administration he served as a minister in, did.

Mohammed, the head of the PDP governors forum, and Atiku, the party’s 2023 presidential contender, are both from the North East Zone. However, it is unclear if the party will make its presidential ticket available to all geopolitical regions, as it did in 2023, a key tenet upon which the party experienced numerous problems.

The Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources Development, Hon. Muhammad Maiwada Bello, however, stated less than twenty-four hours after Atiku’s meeting with Obasanjo that the state governor’s youth-centered leadership has made him a credible presidential candidate, adding that “His administration is seen as a model for how inclusive governance can drive sustainable progress.”

Speaking to reporters in Bauchi yesterday, Bello claimed that in terms of giving young people the chance to serve in government, Governor Mohammed’s administration has outperformed both his predecessors in the state and other governors throughout the country. He said that by assigning more young people to important government posts than any other Nigerian governor, the governor has established a national standard.

“The governor is dedicated to creating an administration that embodies the youthful spirit and inventiveness. Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration has provided more opportunity for young people to hold high-level positions than any other in the nation, Bello said. The State Executive Council, municipal governments, and advisory roles are all examples of Governor Mohammed’s youth-focused initiatives, Bello continued, where young professionals occupy important positions and help implement important policies.

These selections, according to the commissioner, are a part of a larger plan to establish a government that values new ideas and viewpoints. “The administration of Governor Bala Mohammed is evidence of his conviction that youth are not just the future but also crucial to forming the present. He has given them a platform to actively participate in the state’s growth,” Bello continued.

Bello urged Nigerian youths to support Governor Mohammed in the upcoming general elections of 2027, claiming that his track record as a leader shows a strong commitment to youth empowerment. “Youth have long demanded leaders who put their needs first and provide them with chances to succeed. Governor Bala Mohammed has demonstrated that he is a capable leader. At the national level, Bello urged the youth to unite behind him and support his ideas.

He added that Nigeria will see a government that fully utilizes the potential of its youth, encouraging innovation, inclusivity, and national growth, if Governor Mohammed were elected president. He maintained that his ascent to the presidency would guarantee the upholding of youth-focused policies and their active involvement in determining the course of the country.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
