APC’s organs had not convened in the past two years, according to El-Rufai, during Tinubu’s administration. Additionally, the former governor declared his disapproval of the APC. While criticizing the APC, Tinubu commended the former governor in a birthday card given to El-Rufai on February 16, 2025.
However, Tinubu’s statement embarrassed those who didn’t want to wish him a happy birthday, according to El-Rufai. The former governor posted the following on X on Monday: “MONDAY MESSENGER: In observance of my 65th birthday, I received numerous greetings and prayers from friends, coworkers, and fans approximately a week ago.
“The well wishes and prayers were very heartfelt and encouraging, but they were too numerous and overwhelming for me to personally acknowledge or reply to, which is why I’m sending this note. “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who gave me well wishes and prayers, even those who were reluctant to do so until President Tinubu’s message forced them to do so. We pray that the All-Powerful God would hear us and keep benefiting us and our people.As a flawed mortal, I am certain that I could not have shared, retweeted, or reposted every birthday greeting I got, despite my best efforts. I apologize if I didn’t use yours. It is a head omission rather than a heart omission.
El-Rufai has been interacting with the opposition, including the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
