The president said that 17 southern states in the nation will benefit from the restoration of the Lagos-Ibadan and Sagamu expressways, which would also address the infrastructure requirements of adjourning states. On behalf of Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Tinubu restated the goal of his administration to connect rural roads to commercial hubs, industrial corridors, and urban centers.
Rebuilding, renovating, and expanding national road networks, railways, and other infrastructure and national assets that are vital to the nation is part of his Renewed Hope Agenda, he stated. As he continued to ramble on about the agenda, the president retorted that Ogun State’s longstanding reputation as the entryway to the country’s prosperity was cemented by the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, which primarily provides commercial connectivity to the eastern part of the country and serves as a gateway to Nigeria’s hinterland.
The convenience of doing business and the safety of road users had been negatively impacted by the expressway’s frequent accidents, traffic, and road mishaps, he noted, adding that the road project, which began in 2013, was a direct reaction to these issues. Engineer Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, praised the president’s endeavor to make the nation’s road repair a reality.
He added that the president had constructed sturdy, concrete roads throughout the nation, and that opposition groups were proud of the numerous road projects. He added that contractors without a current operating license will not be paid. Engr.
