Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate, has denounced ignorant social media attacks on him and the Senate.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
Netizens and several activists harshly condemned the Senate President on social media when he and Senator Natasha Akpoti got into arguments. During the public hearings on the Tax Reform Bills on Monday, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State made this statement.
Akpabio bemoaned the fact that the majority of Nigerians made their decisions based on what was shared on social media rather than reading the tax reform bills itself. In order to improve the public hearing process, he advised the participants to set aside time to read the bills.
He said: “I’m sick of hearing about taxes on social media. Let’s talk. I would want to spend two days with you. I thus urge everyone, including Nigerians, who have concerns about the bills, to read them before making any comments. Since it’s a two-day event, kindly ask the chairman to provide copies if you don’t already have any. Monday is a good day to listen to others. Refrain from making a quick contribution based on conversations on social media. Go ahead and read first, then come and contribute when we meet again on Tuesday. It’s also available online; you can download it, browse it, and let us know which parts you don’t want. I will not, in my opinion, run for the Nigerian Senate based solely on their social media posts.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
