Transfer: Chelsea boss Maresca wants new signing to leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has told their summer signing, Marc Guiu, to leave the club on loan this summer.

He said the player should be allowed to leave to gain more experience.

Chelsea triggered the teenager’s €6 million release clause to sign him from Barcelona earlier this summer.

The 18-year-old turned down an offer of a new contract from Barcelona before signing a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.

Guiu has joined Chelsea for the start of their pre-season training at their Cobham training ground as one of the striker options.

Guiu wants to stay at Stamford Bridge but Spanish media outlet Esport3 is now reporting that Chelsea boss Maresca is far from convinced of the teenager’s readiness to contribute to his squad this season.

The former Leicester City boss is prepared to send the player out on loan with Spanish outfit Espanyol as his likely destination.
