Arsenal have gone backwards under Arteta, can’t win UCL, EPL – Fletcher

TNT Sports commentator, Darren Fletcher has claimed that Arsenal have gone backwards under their manager Mikel Arteta this season.

Fletcher spoke while assessing Arsenal’s chances of winning the UEFA Champions League this season following their 7-1 victory against PSV in the Round of 16 first leg tie in mid-week.

He believes the Gunners are miles off from winning the Champions League or the Premier League.

“I think they are miles off,” Fletcher said on said on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel when asked whether he felt Arsenal could win the Champions League this season.

“You just said they are fifth in the half of the draw they are in.

“You then look at Barcelona and Bayern Munich on the other side of the draw. You can’t win it from there.

“I think they are miles off winning a Premier League, never mind the11 Champions League. I think they have gone backwards.”

Arsenal’s Premier League title chances this season is all but over after Liverpool extended their lead on top of the table with 13 points.

Arteta’s side finished in second position twice behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City last two seasons.
