Mr. Agofure R. and Mr. Etuh G., two instructors at Ibru College, Agbarha-Otor in Delta State’s Ughelli North Local Government Area, have been instructed to clean the staff restrooms for a month. In an effort to preserve order at the secondary school, both teachers have also been suggested for transfer to other public institutions. In addition to the penalties imposed by the school, the two have been instructed to report to the Delta State Post-Primary Education Board’s Ughelli Zonal Office for additional questioning about the event.
However, the teachers have been placed on leave pending the board’s ultimate judgment. In its report, the school’s disciplinary committee denounced the altercation as unethical and subjected them to a number of sanctions. It should be remembered that both parents and teachers strongly criticized the altercation between the professors.
Additionally, Mr. Etuh G., one of the teachers, has been given a one-month notice to leave his official apartments within the school grounds. Mr. Akporube L.O., the principal of the institution, confirmed the decision and underlined that Ibru College has a zero-tolerance policy for employee misbehavior.
He reaffirmed the value of professionalism and discipline in the teaching profession and declared that the institution will not tolerate any conduct that compromises ethical standards. In response to the incident, Dr. Precious Omoruwou, a senior lecturer at Southern Delta University, denounced the teachers’ behavior and blamed it on a flawed hiring procedure for hiring teachers.
Given that educators are expected to shape and serve as role models for the students they instruct, she advocated for ongoing training and retraining for them. She went on to say that because educators’ actions and inactions directly affect how society is shaped, they must be held to extremely high standards of discipline and not be permitted to act in an impolite manner.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
