Following a fight over suya meat, police broke into a well-known Abia State entertainment and hospitality business on Sunday night. According to business rules, one of the victims who had been brought with Suya to the De Latinos entertainment and hospitality center was turned away by an officer. “I’m hurt. I’m scarcely able to walk, so it was fortunate for me that someone carried me out of the area where I was lying defenseless,” she said. While denouncing the attack, the company’s CEO, Mr. Emmanuel Okenini, told the establishment had a strong policy against bringing in outside food and beverages. “It all began when a police officer in a mufti tried to enter the De Latinos premises with suya meat,” he explained.
He was refused admittance by the establishment, which has a strong rule against bringing in outside food and beverages. The cop insisted on entering with the suya meats even after the bouncers reminded him of this rule several times. The officer allegedly phoned for reinforcements after becoming frustrated by the refusal. Soon later, a contingent of armed police officers and a few troops broke inside the building.
He claimed, “One of the bouncers was badly beaten and taken away in a police vehicle, bleeding heavily, in the chaos that followed.” He went on to say: “At around 10 p.m., a female police officer and her family arrived at the location with suya meat, which further escalated the situation.” He claimed, “An additional wave of police officers arrived, this time in three to four pickup trucks, surrounding the entire De Latinos premises when she was also denied entry.”
However, the CEO claimed to have had a conversation with the police Divisional Officer, who voiced his disapproval of the occurrence and pledged to start an investigation.
