Bundesliga: Boniface fires blanks as Leipzig ends Leverkusen’s 35-match unbeaten run

Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Boniface, failed to score as their 35-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga ended on Saturday, following a 3-2 defeat at home to RB Leipzig.

It is the German champions’ defeat since May 2023.

Leverkusen raced into a two-goal lead, thanks to strikes from Jeremie Frimpong and Alex Grimaldo.

However, the visitors levelled before half time, through Kevin Kampl.

Lois Openda then scored twice after the break to seal the win for Leipzig.

The defeat for Xabi Alonso’s men ended a run of 43 domestic matches without defeat, a run spanning 463 days.
