Police nab driver one month after murder of popular Ondo caterer

A month after the gruesome killing of a popular Akure-based caterer in Ondo State, Debbie Adene, her driver, who allegedly participated in the murder, has been arrested by the police.

The driver, whose name was yet to be disclosed by the police, had been on the run since committing the crime in August 2024.

The late Adene was murdered in her house on July 25, 2024, on Oda Road by the driver and her 17-year-old personal assistant, Philip Emmanuel, shortly after celebrating her 54th birthday. https://dailypost.ng/2024/07/31/popular-ondo-caterer-killed-days-after-celebrating-birthday/

The driver, who hails from Idanre, was alleged to be the mastermind behind the brutal killing.

The personal assistant, who had since been arrested and paraded at the headquarters of the State Police Command, confessed that the money and gifts presented to the deceased during the birthday celebration made them take the decision to kill her in order to steal the money.

Emmanuel, who is currently facing murder charges, had already been remanded at Olokuta Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
