According to the Punch,in less than 24 hours, suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed over 40 people in several attacks across Borno State, setting fire to houses and a church. This tragic event happened after the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, had promised to improve the Nigerian Army’s ability to deal with ongoing security threats.
Meanwhile,the spokesperson for the Borno State Police, ASP Nahum Daso, confirmed the incident, saying the injured victims were still being treated in the hospital.
He added, “the Isuzu pickup van came from Kalabalge area to Gamboru Ngala and stepped on the IED around Furunduma village. The explosion killed 26 people, including 16 men, four women, and six children.”
The attackers arrived on motorcycles and carried out coordinated attacks for nearly an hour without being stopped by security forces. The Chairman of Chibok Local Government, Modu Mustapha, confirmed the attack, saying many people were killed during the funeral. A local source, who spoke anonymously, said 15 people died and many were kidnapped. The attackers also burned an Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria church, five houses, and other properties.
