Ini Edo: It Was Something I Wanted to Keep To Myself As A Secret, But Some People Decided To Expose Me

Renowned Nollywood actress Ini Edo has addressed the criticism she has received and explained why she chose to use surrogacy to bring her child into the world. Edo talked about the personal circumstances that influenced her decision in an interview with Chude Jideonwo that was posted on the With Chude YouTube channel.

She explained that after suffering several miscarriages and without a partner to conceive with, surrogacy became her path to motherhood. Edo stressed that the decision was rooted in her longing to become a parent, despite the absence of a traditional family structure. However, she acknowledged facing criticism from some who disapprove of her opting for surrogacy.

In her statement, she said, “It was something that I wanted to keep to myself as a secret, but some people decided to expose me, and that was when I decided to tell my story by myself. I did surrogacy when I had many miscarriages and I didn’t have a husband to impregnate me. I got tired of not having my own child, and thankfully my eggs are good, and I was able to have my own child.”

Edo’s heartfelt revelation underscores the emotional weight of fertility challenges and the societal scrutiny often tied to unconventional parenting routes. Unfazed by detractors, she remains steadfast in her choice, prioritizing her journey to motherhood. Her story highlights the need for greater compassion toward those navigating complex reproductive decisions.
