NPFL: Ogunbote delighted with Shooting Stars first away win

Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote says his side deserved their derby victory over Sunshine Stars.

The Oluyole Warriors claimed a 1-0 win over Sunshine Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium on Saturday.

It was Shooting Stars’ first away win of the season.

The Ibadan club lost their first two derbies this season to Ikorodu City and Remo Stars.

Ogunbote said it would have been suicidal had his team failed to beat their hosts.

“This victory is a big relief, having toiled for so many games. This is the third derby we have played; it would have been suicidal if we cannot take a point out of the three derbies,” he told the club’s media.

“I’m really happy that finally, it happened, we worked for it and deservedly we were able to get it.”

Shooting Stars will host Kano Pillars in their next league game.
