Tinubu: You kidnapped Atiku, Northern leaders’ aspiration – Paul Ibe replies SGF Akume

Paul Ibe the spokesman of former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has accused the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Goerge Akume of kidnapping the ex-Vice President and Northern leaders’ aspirations and ambitions.

Ibe was reacting to Akume’s remark that Atiku and Northern leaders should forget about contesting against President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Akume had insisted that 2027 is still the turn of the south to produce a president.

However, featuring on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ibe said: “Why they are failing in this job of governance is because they are focused on politics.

“Why must we reward a student who did not pass his examination? Why must we reward him with a promotion?

“It appears that Akume’s job in that particular interview was very clear, kidnap the aspirations of Atiku Abubakar and any other Northerner. That was very irresponsible of him, to say the least.”

On Atiku running for presidency in 2027, Ibe said “That is not the issue because you can’t put the cat before the horse. The country is at a crossroads as we speak, look at the indices, look at food inflation, look at inflation, look at the cost of doing business, look at the lives of the average citizens.

“Must we be playing politics with their wellbeing? That’s why I said you can’t put the cat before the horse. I think it was irresponsible of the SGF to have gone on national TV to kidnap the aspirations and ambitions of Northern leaders, he’s not qualified to say that.”
