Biafra War: There are some things that Can't be said, they will go down with me 6 feet below—Esinulo

Kanayo Esinulo, a former Biafran war veteran and senior aide to Emeka Ojukwu, has shared why he chose to leave out some sensitive details from his book about Biafran War and Ojukwu. He said that before he began writing the book, he made up his mind not to reveal certain truths. He stated that these secrets were too important to be made public.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Edmond Obilo, Esinulo said that he had to protect the trust that people placed in him during the war. He disclosed that some things were said to him in confidence, and he still feels responsible for keeping those words safe. He explained that this sense of duty guided his decision not to reveal everything.

Esinulo stated that he even dedicated a chapter in his book to explain this, calling it “Some Things Cannot Be Said.” He emphasized that he would rather take those details with him to the grave than betray anyone’s trust.

In Esinulo’s words: “I convinced myself before I started putting pen to paper that there were certain things that I will not say. They will go down with me 6 feet. And that was why there is a chapter called Some Things Cannot Be Said. Some things cannot be said, they will go down with me 6 feets below. I am trying to protect the confidence reposed in me”
