NCC’s Maida reaffirms commitment to thriving digital economy

Dr Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), has said he will leverage on technologies, infrastructure, and innovations to drive economic growth, improve lives, and create opportunities.

He said he will continue to set the pace through digital economy initiatives.

Maida stressed on using the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (2020-2030) to provide a framework for Nigeria’s digital economy growth.

According to him, “In my acceptance of the opportunity to lead the commission, I had stated my full commitment to supporting the Honorable Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani’s vision for a thriving digital economy.

“Therefore, as the EVC and with the collaboration of all stakeholders, we shall drive optional quality of consumers across all touch points, as well as expansion of broadband infrastructure, while fostering innovation and sustainable growth of the telecommunication sector.

“Our biggest assets is our people, and we will appreciate and nurture them. We will invest in our skills and capabilities as we take a leading role in driving the changes in the telecoms industry. Collaboration is critical to the success of our initiatives. We will take a co-creative approach to our regulatory activities as well as our intervention initiatives as we transform our industry.

“Our decision-making will be data-driven to reduce subjective and promote transparency, innovation and growth of the commission and the industry at large.

“Accountability is critical to ensuring an effective ecosystem. The Commission will meticulously monitor licensee activities to ensure effective service delivery across the industry value chain.

“A critical method of facilitating efficiency is through digitalization with the right team and environment, structure and processes will be designed to increase productivity, reduce waste and meet expectations.” The EVC said
