Transfer: ‘Agreement is close’ – Romano confirms Bundesliga club to sign Nigerian striker

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bundesliga club Hoffenheim is set to sign Nigerian striker Gift Orban.

According to Romano, Hoffenheim are in advanced talks to bring Orban to Germany.

He noted that the agreement is close as the 22-year-old attacker is expected to leave Lyon in the upcoming January transfer window.

“The agreement is considered close as they’re most concrete team working on a deal with OL, despite links with Turkish clubs too,” Romano wrote on X on Thursday.

Orban, who has attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, VFB Stuttgart and Trabzonspor, is expected to leave Ligue 1 outfit, Lyon after failing to secure a regular playing berth at the club.

Lyon signed the forward for around €14 million from Belgian Pro League club, KAA Gent in January 2023.

But Orban has failed to live up to expectations after scoring twice in five appearances for Lyon.

Lyon is also under pressure to sell players in January to ease their financial problems.
