They Threatened My Mother That She Would Never See Me Again If She Didn’t Share The Money – Alabi Reveals

Quadri Alabi, the 17-year-old who rose to national attention during the 2023 presidential election for standing in front of the Labour Party candidate Peter Obi’s convoy, has revealed troubling developments that followed his brief moment in the spotlight. In an interview with Channels TV, Alabi recounted a harrowing experience of intimidation, wrongful detention, and threats allegedly linked to the money he received after the viral incident.

According to Alabi, area boys within his community began to target him and his family with malicious intent soon after his newfound recognition. Suspicion and envy reportedly grew around him, with some demanding a share of the money gifted to him following the incident. These area boys allegedly issued threats suggesting that if his mother refused to comply, the family could suffer dire consequences—including the potential abduction of Alabi himself.

The situation took a dramatic turn when Alabi, who works as a motorboy transporting fish, returned home from work one day and was unexpectedly arrested. Unknown to him, there had been an altercation in the neighborhood involving local thugs, prompting a police sweep. Upon arriving at his residence, he was seized by individuals who accused him of being involved in the unrest. The police, acting on these claims, detained him without evidence of wrongdoing.

In his words: “I don’t want to stay in that area because some people have set their eyes on me with bad intentions. When these things happened, those area boys told my mom, ‘This money they gave this boy, you must share it into two. If you’re not careful, you’ll lose your daughter.’ They also threatened her that they would kidnap me and take me somewhere, and my mother would not see me again.’ But my mom told them that It’s not possible.”
