JUST IN: After N20m gift, Portable blasts Burna Boy for snubbing him

 

Controversial Nigerian street-pop artist, Portable, has publicly expressed his disappointment over what he describes as being ignored by Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy. According to reports from PM News Nigeria on Monday, April 21, this came shortly after Burna Boy gifted him the sum of N20 million for emerging victorious in a recent celebrity boxing match.

In a video shared online, Portable revealed his desire to collaborate musically with Burna Boy, but lamented that his efforts to reach out have gone unanswered. The singer claimed he has been sending messages and making calls to the Grammy award-winning artist, but has not received any feedback.

Portable, known for his outspoken nature and viral social media presence, earlier confirmed the financial gift from Burna Boy via his Instagram page on April 20. In the post, he expressed deep gratitude, describing the gesture as a significant show of support from someone he respects in the industry. However, he later voiced frustration over the lack of ongoing communication.

In the follow-up video, Portable referred to Burna Boy as a “helper” who stepped in with real support, unlike others in the industry who, according to him, are quick to offer advice but rarely follow through with genuine assistance. He praised Burna Boy for recognizing his hustle but expressed his hope that the gesture would lead to a working relationship beyond just financial support.

“I’ve been texting, calling… no response,” Portable said, visibly emotional. He noted that while the money was appreciated, he is more interested in meaningful engagement such as recording a song together or getting mentorship from someone with Burna Boy’s influence and experience.
