The judge sentenced internet fraudster Ayeni to 120 months in prison after he entered a guilty plea to the fraud allegation, according to the article. Even though Ayeni had stopped scamming people since April 2019, U.S. Judge Terry Moorer ordered him to pay $19,599,969 in restitution to all the persons and organizations he deceived on October 31.
Since Ayeni “lacked the ability to pay,” the court waived the interest that was due on his reparation. Along with co-conspirators Yusuf Olasunkanmi Lasisi and Feyisayo Oyindola Oginsanwo, Ayeni was requested to make the reparation.
Whether Ayeni is deported right away after serving his sentence or is permitted to remain in the United States under strict guidelines for three years of supervised release will be decided by the U.S. immigration authority.
