Israel acknowledges the murder of former Hamas chief Haniyeh in Tehran.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz acknowledged in public on Monday that Israel was behind the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, a former Hamas leader, in Tehran earlier this year. After Iran and Hamas had previously blamed Israel for Haniyeh’s murder, Katz’s comments represented the first formal recognition of Israel’s role in the killing.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
In a statement made during an event at the Ministry of Defense, Katz also issued a strong warning regarding Israel’s military strategy, specifically targeting the leadership of Yemen’s Huthi rebels. He declared, “We will strike hard at the Huthis… and decapitate their leadership just as we did with Haniyeh, (Yahya) Sinwar, and (Hassan) Nasrallah in Tehran, Gaza, and Lebanon, we will do so in Hodeida and Sanaa.”

According to reports from France 24, Katz’s comment about targeting the Huthis and their leadership mirrored Israel’s earlier actions against key figures in Hamas and Hezbollah, groups with longstanding hostilities toward Israel. The statement reinforced Israel’s stance on preemptively addressing threats, asserting that any individual or organization posing a danger to Israel would be held accountable.

Haniyeh, a prominent Hamas figure, was instrumental in negotiating a ceasefire agreement in Gaza. He was killed on July 31 in Tehran, allegedly by an explosive device placed by Israeli operatives several weeks before his death. His assassination occurred just one day after attending the inauguration of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Katz’s statement also referenced other significant deaths attributed to Israeli actions. These included the September 27 bombing in Beirut that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and the October 16 killing of Yahya Sinwar, Haniyeh’s successor, in Gaza. Sinwar, whom Israeli officials hold responsible for masterminding the deadly October 7, 2023, Hamas attack that triggered the ongoing Gaza conflict, was also a target of Israel’s broader strategy of eliminating key terrorist figures.CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
