General Musa claimed that those targeted were terrorists and that anyone discovered with them during the airstrike was an accomplice. According to Naija News, a fighter jet bombed two communities in the state’s Silame Local Government Area on Wednesday, killing at least ten civilians and injuring numerous others. Musa made these claims during his visit to Sokoto State amid the controversy surrounding an airstrike against Lakurawa terrorists.
The military maintained that the strikes were against criminals, but the Sokoto State government asserted that some of the people killed were “innocent villagers.” During his visit on Thursday, the CDS briefed reporters at the Giginya Cantonment Sokoto. He also emphasized that the military airstrike was directed at terrorists, but he also stated that an investigation will be conducted into the incident.
The offenders were merely attempting to slant the media narrative in their favor, he argued. “You become a target once you do that, and we have people who still harbor those people.” We kindly ask that you do not let them hang around you and that you do not, in any way, assist them.
“We carried out the operation that resulted in yesterday’s incident. We checked in to make sure we didn’t make any mistakes. If there were any mistakes that came up, we will investigate. Based on our observations, there were criminals there. They included everyone who played with them.
“Always keep in mind that those guys want to use the media to spread their message, so we want to appeal to the media.” General Musa said, “That is why it is risky to disagree with what they are saying.” He pledged that the military will carry out its constitutional responsibilities of defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity by combating criminal groups while avoiding civilian losses, notwithstanding the controversy surrounding the recent airstrikes.
Additionally, he advised residents to stay away from areas where criminals and terrorists congregate. The military “would avoid civilian casualties as long as even they do not stay where the criminals are,” he clarified. Saying that we avoid the criminals wherever they are makes the task very tough. “If you are not with them, please come out of their area so that we can deal with them in a decisive manner.”CONTINUE FULL READING>>>>>
