I will begin road, drainages, bridge construction immediately – Gov Okpebholo

The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo on Tuesday promised to partner with the Federal Government, the private sector, non-governmental organizations, those in the diaspora, and other stakeholders, to develop all sectors of the state’s economy.

Okpebholo made the pledge in his inaugural speech shortly after taking oaths as the governor of the state.

The newly sworn-in Governor who noted that the deplorable condition of roads has made it difficult for people to move from one part of the state to another, promised that his administration would immediately commence work to make the roads passable again.

He noted that part of his agenda was to develop road infrastructure, constructing drainages and bridges, to ease transportation for all.

He also promised that his administration would support small businesses and market women with soft loans.

He also announced his administration’s plan to recruit teachers and rebuild the deplorable classrooms across the state.

“My administration shall immediately swing into action to recruit teachers and rebuild the deplorable classrooms. Tertiary education will be strengthened in many ways too, to ensure quality education.

“Our teeming youthful population will not be left out. We shall support them to acquire relevant skills for self-empowerment”, he said.

He said his government was ready to link communities that have not yet been connected to the national grid, to ensure that they have electricity.
